The project concerns an existing building inside the industrial site of Tioxide Europe Ltd – Huntsman in Ternate (VA), which houses offices and laboratories.
The project responds to the urgent imperative of replacing the asbestos cement roofing. The cover is then reclaimed and replaced with new polyurethane sandwich panels able to simultaneously improve the energy performance. The intervention in coverage becomes also an opportunity to improve the natural lighting in the offices: “cones of light” are inserted to channel inward the light coming from new Velux flat roof windows. Special reflective film applied inside the cones enhance the performance of light transmission.
